03 / COMMANDS / Tone

Undo/Redo keeps 32 cell edits for this visit, including rules and portal endpoints. It stops playback without rewinding robots. Ctrl/Cmd-Z undoes; Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-Z or Ctrl-Y redoes outside text inputs. Adding/deleting grids, Reset, Demo and a valid Open clear history.

Face ↑ → ↓ ← changes heading on entry; it moves that way on the next movement tick. ↻ / ↺ turns and flips are bumpers acting ahead. MUTE Toggle switches only the visiting robot's future notes/samples off or on. Robots and REC/END keep running; existing tails ring out. Face and MUTE obey visit rules. Reset unmutes all channels.

04 / ROBOT + CLOCK

1 = every tick; 2 = half speed; 4 = one move per beat. Changing speed stops playback and starts this robot's phase at zero without moving it. SPD:PH shows ticks/elapsed phase in hex. New Robot uses the shown direction/rate; tap an empty cell without a reserved start. Up to eight robots; R01 is kept. Remove asks for typed yes. Place Robot edits the selected start; Reset restores all starts and counters.

Song takes / idle

The robot starts/stops recording on REC/END cells. Stop also finishes a take. Save before closing; up to 16 takes stay here for this visit. Two-minute limit per take.

Pattern files

JSON keeps all grids, tones, rules, counters and robot start. WAV saves the song audio. Older Mini files still open.

How to link grids
Choose Portal, tap its first cell, select another grid, and tap its partner. Each portal shows ▦ and its destination grid number. A missing partner turns red and shattered. Select a grid and Delete, then type yes to confirm its exact number. Grid numbers are never reused within a pattern.

Quarter turns and flips act ahead of a moving robot. Face arrows, tones, recording and portals act on arrival, not on waiting ticks. ? Program opens existing cell rules; the selected note and rule apply when painting new ones. The demo has seven robots, ten rotators, conditional reflectors, three repeating variations and two chance routes. Bass, harmonies and high melody share a C-major palette. The demo is Signal / No Masters, an original 96 BPM tracker song with bass, drums and winding routes. Every sound plays before the first take ends at tick 322. Chance uses 1-in-N seeded draws; Save/Open keeps their exact sequence.

05 / AUDIO FX

Both are on in the demo. Switch either off to hear it dry. WAV takes keep the effects heard by their notes.

Painting defaults / new cells

Optional defaults for new painted cells. To program an existing rotator, select ? beside the grid, then tap its box. Badges show next gate: 1 = on, 0 = off; the number counts down.

Delete grid?
